The 2002 campaign at Khor Rori, Oman - Università degli Studi di Pisa

The goal of the campaign of 2002 was to determinate the character of the buildings in the area A (area of the Gate Complex and the Monumental Building) and to re-excavate the small second entrance (so called "gate to the sea"), placed in the south-eastern corner of the city (Area B).

The 1997-1998 campaigns at Khor Rori, Oman - Università degli Studi di Pisa

The ancient city of Sumhuram, built in the area of Khor Rori, is the most important pre-Islamic settlement in the Dhofar region.
In the 1950's the city had been investigated by an American expedition (the American Foundation for the Study of the Man – AFSM-) directed by W. Phillips and with the archaeologist F. Albright as field director. Since 1996 the Italian Mission to Oman (IMTO), directed by prof. A. Avanzini, has been working in the area of Khor Rori.

Già negli anni cinquanta la regione e l'insediamento erano stati investigati da una spedizione americana (The American Foundation for the Study of Man).
