Curriculum Vitae

Academic credits

• Graduated in Egyptology at La Sapienza University of Rome with 110/110 “cum laude” in July 2003. Title of the thesis: “The process of unification in Egypt at the end of IV millennium B.C.: archaeological data and theories”.

• Among the others, I’ve got through 3 exams in Egyptology, 2 exams in Nubian Antiquities, 2 exams in Coptic Art History, 2 exams in Archaeology of Ancient Near East, 1 exam in Ancient Near East History, 2 exams in Prehistory and Early-history of Ancient Near East, 2 exams in Prehistorical Ethnography of Ancient Africa.

• In December 2003 I've won the Italian "Dottorato di ricerca", that is the same of the English PhilD or the German Doktor. My research project concerns the development of first Egyptian writing system from the end of IV millennium a.C. to the beginning of III (3200-2900 B.C.).

• In December 2003 I’ve won a grant at the Specialization School in Oriental Archaeology of Rome (but I have to complete before my Doctoral studies).


Archaeological Experiences

• Egypt and the Sudan:
1) In February 2004 I've taken part in a 4 weeks archaeological survey in the Eastern Desert of the Sudan, under the direction of Ce.R.D.O. (Centre for the Eastern Desert Researches) and the supervision of Sudanese Antiquity Service. During this survey I’ve got al lot of experience about Prehistoric settlements, cemeteries, utilitarian stone tools, pottery and rock drawings. Now I’m working on the publication of the archaeological data we collected on these sites and on a pottery database.
2) In September 2004 I’ve worked in the Italian mission at Kom el-Ghoraf (Western Nile Delta), as archaeologist and as pottery-expert (I’ve collected, analyzed and dated the pottery from the site, almost all from Ptolemaic to Coptic period, and I have built a computer database).
3) In December 2004 I’ve worked as archaeologist in the Italian Mission at the Prehistoric site of Geili (Sudan) with Prof.Isabella Caneva (University of Lecce – Italy).
4) In February 2005 I’ve taken part in another 4 weeks archaeological survey in the Eastern Desert of the Sudan, under the direction of Ce.R.D.O. (Centre for the Eastern Desert Researches) and the supervision of Sudanese Antiquity Service.

• Italy:
1) 2 weeks fieldwork at the Etruscan necropolis in Tuscania with the Roman Archaeological Group (Gruppo Archeologico Romano) in 1994.
2) 6 weeks fieldwork at Traianum Forum (Rome) with La Sapienza University and A.S.T.R.A. cooperative.
3) 2 weeks fieldwork at Magna Mater Temple (Palatinum-Rome) with La Sapienza University.
4) 2 weeks fieldwork at Palatinum northern side (Rome) with La Sapienza University.
